Renaissance man Roger McNamee , after having been an early investor in Facebook, tried to warn us about the corrosive effects of social media on culture and politics.
In addition to being an important venture capitalist, entrepreneur and pundit who can be seen on CNBC and elsewhere, he is also a member of Moonalice and the co-writer of the Moonalice song "It's 4:20 Somewhere."
Digital logs for the song were acquired by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for its library and archives to "tell the story of music’s digital revolution; specifically the rise of direct-from-artist (DFA) distribution. Moonalice is the first band without a label to achieve one million downloads of a song from its own servers, direct-from-artist. 'It’s 4:20 Somewhere' has been downloaded over 100,000,000 times."
