Jesus Christ Superstar New Artist Edition Show Poster Created and Signed by Original Designer David Byrd

This Artist Proof has been annotated and hand-signed in pencil by Original Illustrator David Edward Byrd.

About the original piece, David says, "This was a promotional poster for the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical produced by Robert Stigwood. It is based on Catholic religious store Jesus-as-a-W.A.S.P. imagery with a stained glass border using Celtic motifs. The interlocking angels at the bottom were used as the poster for the show as well as the album cover, in gold on dark maroon. This poster was originally printed on buff paper and is very rare. Watercolor, ink and dyes on board."

A prolific and adventurous illustrator, David has done dozens of fantastic posters for Broadway and Off-Broadway theater, as well as the original first Woodstock, all the Fillmore East posters and many projects for Warner Bros., including character and setting studies for the Harry Potter movies.
